Frequently asked questions
What are the odds of getting a knife or gloves from a CS2 case?
The approximate odds for CS2 case drops are: Mil-Spec (Blue) ~79.92%, Restricted (Purple) ~15.98%, Classified (Pink) ~3.2%, Covert (Red) ~0.64%, and Rare Special Items (knives/gloves, Gold) ~0.26%. This means roughly 1 in 385 case openings yields a knife or gloves.
Which CS2 case has the best return on investment?
Case ROI varies over time as skin prices fluctuate. Generally, cases with highly sought-after knife finishes or popular Covert skins offer the best expected value. CSSkinLab tracks pricing for all case contents so you can evaluate current profitability before opening.
Do older CS2 cases increase in value?
Yes. Cases that are removed from the active drop pool ("rare drop" cases) tend to increase in price over time due to decreasing supply. Classic cases like the Bravo Case or original Weapon Cases have appreciated significantly from their original market price.
What is the difference between cases and souvenir packages?
Weapon cases require a key to open and contain standard or StatTrak skins. Souvenir packages drop during Major tournament matches, are free to open, and contain Souvenir-quality skins with tournament stickers pre-applied. Souvenir skins can be used as trade-up inputs since the IEM Cologne 2026 patch (May 2026), but the tournament stickers and Souvenir attribute are stripped on craft — the output is always a normal skin.
