Frequently asked questions
What is a CS2 Major?
A Major is a Valve-sponsored tier-1 tournament with a $1.25M+ prize pool. Majors are the most prestigious CS2 events and the only tournaments that produce in-game items like stickers, patches, graffiti, souvenir packages, and highlight capsules. There are typically two Majors per year.
What items come from CS2 tournament Majors?
Each Major produces team sticker capsules, autograph (player signature) capsules, patch packs, team graffiti, champion and finalist commemorative items, highlight capsules featuring play-of-the-game clips, and souvenir packages that drop during live matches containing special souvenir-quality skins.
What are souvenir packages?
Souvenir packages are special cases that drop to viewers watching Major matches. They contain weapon skins from the map being played, pre-applied with tournament and team stickers. Since the IEM Cologne 2026 patch (May 2026), Souvenir skins can be used as inputs in trade-up contracts alongside normal skins — but the gold stickers, autographs and Souvenir attribute are removed on craft, so the output is always a normal (non-Souvenir) skin.
Do tournament items increase in value over time?
Generally yes. Tournament stickers and capsules are only sold during and briefly after each Major. Once removed from sale, supply only decreases as items are opened or used. Items from older Majors — especially Katowice 2014, Cologne 2014, and Katowice 2015 — have appreciated enormously.
